Chariot FittingsThese are fittings for a chariot. Each one is decorated with a man riding a taotie. The level of detail can be achieved on these bronze fittings because of the nature of loess. Loess was used to make the moulds for the bronze vessels. It is very fine and quite elastic which means it can be heated to high temperatures and still retain quite fine details and decorations. |
