Story

The Story traces a lump of jade from its formation in the earth to its transformation into a precious funerary object in the hands of a craftsman. This section could be used to discuss burial customs and funerary objects at different levels of society, the role of craftsmen in ancient China, the development of technological processes and the value of natural resources.

Explore

The Explore features an interactive 'Workshop Alley'. In this interactive street there is a bronze, jade and ceramics workshop. Each workshop contains information on the processes used for that particular material.

Challenge

The Silkworm Challenge focuses on silkworm farming. It encourages children to learn about how silk is produced. This challenge demonstrates how human intervention is required to produce high quality silk from silkworms.
